The Governing Board of The Dove Federation (Church Broughton CE Primary School and Heath Fields Primary School, Hatton) currently have vacancies for two co-opted governors. 

Being a school governor is a great way of supporting the children, staff and leaders of the schools in our Federation.  It is also an opportunity to develop transferable skills which you can use in your own workplace or to support you with promotion.

We welcome expressions of interest from anyone with an interest in working with the schools within the Federation to promote the welfare and education of children.  Our role is strategic, not operational so we are not involved in the day-to-day running of the schools.  Through monitoring and supportive challenge, we make a real and noticeable difference to the children, their families and the broader community.  You do not need to have an in-depth knowledge of the education sector.  What we are looking for is someone with time and the desire to contribute positively.  We regularly review the skillset on the Board and always benefit from people with experience/expertise in finance and health and safety.  A range of training, to suit your needs and experience will be provided and you will have a mentor to support your transition into the role. 

The time commitment, in a typical academic year is three Full Governing Board meetings per year (approx. 2 hours, one meeting per term) and three Committee meetings (approx. 2 hours).  We have two committees with the expectation that governors serve on one depending on their skillset, professional experience or interest.
