Remote Learning
All children’s remote learning is available to them via their own Microsoft Teams login. Our teaching staff are providing a variety of live lessons and paper-based resources to support learning from home.
EYFS and Key Stage 1
In EYFS and Key Stage 1, teachers and teaching assistants are hosting three 20 minute live inputs everyday which focus on English, Maths and Phonics and explain the independent tasks that should be completed following the sessions. Staff provide a paper pack of resources to support parents should they not be able to access the live lessons. The packs also include invaluable supports for learning such as phonics mats.
At the end of everyday, teachers invite the whole class into a live story time where children both in key worker school or at home have the opportunity to see each other and enjoy a great story.
Key Stage 2
In Key Stage 2, Teachers are teaching live lessons for three hours each day: this includes a maths, English and wider curriculum lesson. Teachers are aligning the school’s medium term planning to Oak Academy and White Rose Maths. By doing so, pupils who are not able to access the live lessons can still access content at a time that suits them.
In addition to this, pupils have access through school subscriptions to MyMaths, Spelling Shed and Times Table Rockstars, with expectations to use these and this use is monitored. Children are also encouraged to spend 15 minutes everyday reading for pleasure.
Feedback from parents on our remote learning:
Live lessons [are] really helpful as we work full time from home and [it’s] difficult to spend time doing home learning.
[Teachers] go through anything that he is struggling with and explain everything brilliantly.
I think the home learning that has been put into place is really good and this has reduced the pressure on parents especially parents who are now working from home.
Excellent feedback on the work sent over to teacher.
Great engagement with pupils during online lessons, lots of praise given and opportunities for the children to participate.
Access to live lessons is easy to access, and have kept the children in a routine and in contact with school and their friends. The amount of lessons per day really stretches it out and keeps them focused.
Live lessons with child’s actual teacher are brilliant! Thank you!
Quantity and quality of work seem to be correct. Feedback is good. Children have settled into routine.
… seem so much more focused this time, I feel that Teams really encourages them and motivates them for the task ahead. The lesson plans and resources are brilliant and make it so easy for me to follow as a parent. Thank you x
The lessons are the right length and not overwhelming.
The school's ethos is one of success, where good teaching and good behaviour flourish.
