Termly Round Up

8 April 2022 (by Andrew Rudge (arudge))

Dear all,

Thank you to all of you who attended our final celebration worship of the term. It was a great opportunity to reflect on the amazing work our children do and the progress they make. It is also wonderful to now be able to invite parents back in to share these important events with us.

We were fortunate today to have been visited by PC Bancroft and Officer Greville from Derbyshire Police. They spent time with all our classes focussing mainly on anti-bullying and how to remain safe online. All children also had the opportunity to ask the officers questions about their jobs.

With regard to online safety, Derbyshire have alerted schools to an online character called 'Huggy, Wuggy'. You may be aware of this already but  please read this important information.

It is beneficial for us all to be aware of this character, if children mention it. Don’t be fooled its not a nice cuddly bear.

There is a new Game/Character that children are being exposed to on Tiktok and YouTube at the moment named ‘Huggy Wuggy’ from the 2021 ‘horror’ game ‘Poppy Playtime’.

The Character ‘Huggy Wuggy’ sounds like a cuddly bear but is actually encouraging children/young people to copy behaviours, going around hugging people randomly, but then carrying out violent behaviours and verbal abuse to others. There are some graphics on the game and within videos of this character that can also be disturbing for children and young people.

The police have posted warnings about this very recently.

Please see the weblinks below with further details around it for you to read.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this, please do contact us at school.

Looking forward, we are getting prepared for May Day on 2nd March. Please do put it into your diary and encourage your children to get involved. Class 1 and 2 have already been practising, as have the May Pole Dancers. Class 3 will be planning their games after the holiday: do encourage to have a think over the holidays of any good ideas to raise money for the school.

From everyone at school, we hope you have a lovely Easter Holiday.
